I bought the Lodge Cast Iron Grill/Griddle for my husband for his birthday. He loves food from cast iron and loves to cook on it. Since this purchase, I have found it to be a gift for myself rather than for him. I love cooking on it so much! I have not taken it off my stove top since I gave it to him.
It is so versatile. I cook chicken, grilled sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, steaks, and vegetables so far in the last two weeks. I am looking forward to finding more recipes to cook on this too. Since one side is a grill pan and the other is a flat top, I see myself using it a lot!
It is easier than grilling on weeknights. Since my husband gets home on the later side, and my kids are generally ready to eat the moment he gets home, I have to make dinner early. It is not feasible for me to take both kids outside and grill meats by myself. This gives the taste of a grill with the convenience of an inside kitchen.
One thing I wish were a bit different is the inconsistency in temperature. Since my back burner is small and my front burner is big, the front gets a little hotter than the back. I have figured out to turn the back burner way up and the front way down. I think I will figure out how to manage this better the longer I cook on it.
