My son has officially given up his nap. Way.To.Soon. This occurred shortly after his sister was born, so it was a necessity for me was to keep him quiet so his baby sister could sleep uninterrupted in the afternoon. So, I looked up a few ideas on Pinterest, and I tried a combination of a couple ideas I found there.
I accumulated a bunch of stuff we already had, but he didn’t really play with too often, but as soon as I put them in his boxes, he loved them. It’s funny how that works. The boxes included simple puzzles we got for Christmas presents, learning books about shapes and letters, card games, small board books, flash cards, etc.
I put a few favorite items in each box too, such as picture albums of family members and friends, and lift flap books about trucks and farm animals.
When I think he will need a little extra to keep him busy in his room, I give him a stack of dictionary-type books to help him learn his letters. He loves to search for stuff he knows in these books too.
Lastly, I divided the items up equally into 4 boxes, so he would have some variety each day.
